Empowering Teachers with Mindfulness — For the Classroom and Beyond
Designed specifically for primary school teachers in Ireland, this experiential course combines Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Neuroscience and Positive Psychology to help you build your own practice and confidently share it with your pupils.
Each module blends science, reflection, guided meditations and classroom-friendly tools that align with SPHE and Wellbeing Policy goals.

What’s Included
Module 1: What Is Mindfulness?
Learn the science and benefits of mindfulness in the school setting. Understand automatic pilot, attention levels, and the negativity bias of the brain. Begin your own practice with the Mindfulness of Breath meditation and how to teach it to pupils. Explore how mindfulness connects to the SPHE theme of pupil growth and wellbeing.
Module 2: Brain Science, Gratitude and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Explore neuroplasticity and the connection between thoughts and emotions. Learn how to apply Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and practise the Body Scan meditation and how to deliver it in the classroom. Reflect on gratitude and its impact on teacher and pupil wellbeing.
Module 3: Positive Psychology, Flow & Character Strengths
Examine unhelpful thinking patterns that can cause stress, worry anxiety and other negative emotional states. Explore the concept of Flow. Use the Character Strengths Survey from Positive Psychology for yourself and with pupils aged 10+. Practise short meditations and age-appropriate delivery of Thought Meditations for children and teachers.
Module 4: Short Practices & Emotional Wellbeing
Integrate short mindfulness techniques into the school day. Learn tools from the Positive Psychology Toolkit to facilitate emotional flourishing. Practise strengths-based meditations for boosting teacher and student resilience. Content aligns with non-bullying, empathy, and the Wellbeing Policy Statement.
Module 5: Self-Compassion, Empathy and Mindfulness Learnings Integration
Explore self-compassion and how kindness supports Emotional Intelligence in pupils. Practise Loving Kindness meditations for teacher and pupil wellbeing. Reflect on how to create a Mindful Life for yourself and your students, along with a Mindful Classroom for your pupils.
